**Got Senses?**

Well do you?

This week's challenge at The Design X blog is all about our senses!
Here is the challenge:

"We use our five senses to fully experience life. Create something that describes these senses. The good, the bad, What you like/dislike about them? Do you have a sense that is more pronounced than the others? I.E. Do you have perfect vision? Do you have a keen sense of smell? Do you have weird taste buds? Let us know!!!"

This is my layout I came up with...I wanted to scrap my happy senses :)

YOU should do the challenge!! If you do, link your layout to the comment section of the blog, you could win a KILLER RAK!! DO IT, just DO IT. :)

(Ya know, if you DO do it and you DO link it back to ME in MY comments I just MIGHT surprise you, no not MIGHT, I WILL surprise you with a fun RAK myself!)

*How Is It Possible*

That tomorrow...YOU, my boy - my last child, my only son, my sweet sweet boy, are turning 16 years old? WHERE has the time gone? WHEN did you get big? WHAT has made the hands of time just FLY by to this day? Where's my baby?
I could ask and ask these questions all day and get the same answer...it just happens.
Oh boy does it! Tomorrow is YOUR special day. YOUR day to shine. YOUR day to celebrate.
It's a day reserved JUST for you.

16 years ago I remember well. I remember going through the big contest called "birth" to get my big prize. My boy. I knew we were complete when you were born...1 girl, 1 boy...it couldn't have been any more perfect. YOU decided you wanted to give me a hard time during your birth. You silly goose!! You wanted to scare us, which you did a couple of times. Once so much the doc attached a monitor to your scalp, in the womb! WEIRD! But he was checking just to make sure you were still ok in there while trying to come out. I remember joking he was going to make you bald when you came out (btw...I was RIGHT! it rubbed some of your new baby hair off, no big deal, you still had alot of hair!) . We had to be wheeled to the surgery room in case you needed to be born via c-section like your sis....but no, you came out with no probs well unless you consider being pulled out with life size salad tongs (forceps...LOLOLOL) no probs..hee hee!!

So 16 - wow...the year of your drivers license, yay for you but EEK for me!

Enjoy your day son! You're the star...shine bright today and always!!!

Happy Birthday sweet boy......love, Mom :)

Design X - Challenge #6 is UP!

and guess who's challenge it was this week? MINE!!

Here's my challenge:

Remember as a child the times you thought monsters were under your bed or in your closet?
What was a fear you had as a child? Do you still fear it today?

Here's my layout. NO laughing...clowns REALLY do spook me to DEATH!

Can you FEEL my fear? EEK!! I had to imagine these clowns as some old teachers so I could scrap them...I KID YOU NOT!!!!

Journaling: "They can be happy as can be. I will have NO part of them. Nope, not one. single grin, smirk, NOTHING! YUCK!! Since I can remember - clowns have always freaked me out. "Balloon for you?" NOPE - just move along. Let me run behind my mom's leg. I will NEVER like them. they make my skin crawl. No thanks...I'm ready to escape. GO!"

So do you still have any fears from your childhood? Scrap them!! Post a link to your layout in the comment section of the Design X blog. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Have the most fabulous week ever!
Don't forget to say HI!

**Greta Greenthumb At Your Service?**

Need things planted? Need plants watered? Just call me! I apparantly have a little bit of a green thumb and I didn't even KNOW it, hee hee.

Well...on Friday, [while my sweet pup Potter was in the hospital getting fixed] I went with my hubby to the nursery and we picked up some lovelies to plant in our backyard. He'd already planted some baby palm trees and he wanted to add more. I loved helping him pick things out and I even picked out a pretty watering can, lovely gloves and my own little digging tool :) (I know, this all SCREAMS "beginner", hee hee) Here's my pretties I got:

Oh my aren't these asiatic lilies gorgeous? We put those under some yucca trees we already had growing...

These lovely ones went by the fence

See, here's the baby palms, right by our pool. We put a few things in between each palm.

Such as....

Can't wait to see them pop up!!!

(I also put some day lilies, Peruvian Daffodils & Amaryllis here)

Oh it was fun getting all dirty!!

**man am I SORE!!!!

Happy Weekend! Be sure to check back tomorrow when I have the latest challenge layout for Design X up! It's MY week, yay!!

*Haiku Much?*

Our challenge this week for The Design Experiment was to: "do a Haiku about today"

I don't think I've heard the word "haiku" since I was in grade school. I even had to look it up to see exactly what it was!
When I read the meaning:
hai·ku /?ha?ku/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[*hahy*-koo]
1. a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons.
I KNEW I was being totally challenged! HA! You should have SEEN me counting my syllables on my fingers in the air, saying each word carefully. I was hoping I didn't get counted off for my ability to make one word sound like 2 or more (but don't blame me, blame my Texas accent I was born with, LOL!)
This past weekend we found baby bunnies burrowed in a small hole in our yard. You should have SEEN them. There were probably about 5 of them, all on top of one another. They were so cute!! I had to get right down on that burrow and snap pics. Aren't they adorable! I totally knew that was what my "haiku" was going to be about!

Be sure to check out The Design Experiment Blog to see what everyone came up with!

This is my layout I did -

My haiku reads:
Baby bunnies born.
Right here in our own backyard. (while writing I accidentally left off here, LOL!)
God's sweet creation.

So do you feel challenged? Can you Haiku about today? You should!! If I can Haiku, so can YOU! Check out the blog and be sure to link up your layout so you can be entered in the RAK drawing! I can't wait to see everyone's haiku's!

Have a happy week!
Say HI if you get a chance :)

It's the weekend, yay!!!!! Oh boy what a week this has been! Between dentist visits, doctor visits, oral surgeon visits, orthodontist visits...it's nice to just relax a little! :) I wanted to share a little something with you that I made yesterday for the Glitz Blog. It's a little book about my sweet boy. He'll be turning 16 in a couple of weeks and I wanted to capture him in a book to share what a great kid he is!
I started my book by using some chipboard coasters from my FAVE restaurant...LOL!!
I used alot of different Glitz products together. :) I hope you enjoy!

I hope you have the most wonderful weekend ever!! It sure is beautiful here in Texas, I'm going to go enjoy the sunshine! Happy Weekend!

**The BETTER to see YOU with**

Oh yes...the absolute BEST to see you with! (at least now anyway! :) )
*Sad story...my fave glasses broke.
*Funny story..they broke when our new pup jumped on the bed and *ka-pow* smacked right into me, well my face. He's so teeny he didn't hurt me but imagine my surprise when I saw a piece of plastic flying through the air. I'm trying and trying to figure out, "ok WHERE did that just come from? The sky? HA!" I then felt my glasses go lopsided. I winced. I realized that flying plastic was part of my glasses!

**I ran as quick as I could to try to have them repaired. No such luck...they were toast. (minus the butter and jelly!) They didn't have any more of my style (I was hoping to just transfer the lenses to another frame like my faves..) Well...I decided ok it's almost time for my next eye doc appt. so I could just get a new prescrip and get a new pair. Which is exactly what I did, luckily a cancellation got me RIGHT in the next morning! YAY!!
-Appt. goes great, she even tells me I don't have the stigmatism I had 2 years ago! YAY! I thought it got worse the older you get? No way, for me it was just the opposite! I did have to get a new prescrip...my eyeballs needed a tad better adjustment in the "the better to see you with" spec department.

~I tried on about a kazillion pairs. No lie. I finally turned to my hubby (who just LOVES to help me pick out my specs) and said, "well...I don't see a pair, let's just go see what another place has.." He says..."WAIT, have you tried these??" They are a CUTE oh man OH so cute black pair with KILLER sides that I totally must have passed over because those were the ones! Score! YAY! (as for the hubster...he loved them too! He even told me, "wow - you look "smokin" - ok not so sure about THAT but the fact that he even said something..SOLD!)

Check out the sides:

COOL HUH? I love 'em!! Sooooo as you might have guessed, I ordered those and guess what else? I LOVED them so much, I ordered them in sunglasses too :)

This is me in my new specs...I LOVE them!

Thanks for reading my silly story for the day! :)

Have a happy week!

**Without further adieu**

May I present to you Master "Hairy" Potter. He's all of 8 lbs. He's 2 years old. He's 1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Yorkshire Terrier. He's a recognized breed called a "Chorkie" He's quite a character, full of life, full of love and he's stolen our hearts. Yes...he's all ours. Let me give you his story.....

About 4 weeks ago my husband received an email from dear friends of ours about a sweet puppy who's had a rough life. He needed help. He needed to be rescued. He was in a sad home where the humans didn't seem to love him like he deserves. He fathered one litter at a YOUNG age. He was banned to outdoors. He *might* have even been abused. He first showed signs of that when he was first rescued by our friends. Alan almost didn't show me the email. He did show me and instantly I fell in love but knowing we have 3 small dogs already I knew I really needed to think this through........
I did, we did for about a week. I couldn't get "Hairy" Potter out of my brain! I knew he'd fit in perfectly here at our house. Soooooo Alan emailed our friend to see if he was even still available. We thought surely they'd found him a home. He was still there. We went to visit him just a few minutes later. I fell deeper in LOVE. I knew Duster would love a playmate his size....I just knew it. (I was right!) We decided to come back the next day to pick him up. We did and he's here just loving life being as spoiled rotten as our other 3...Bandit, Cajun & Duster.
Potter's been here for almost 4 weeks and it's like he's ALWAYS been here. I knew it was the right thing to do. I KNEW the boys would love having a brother. ALL of them took to him RIGHT away and we've had no problems. Potter's been an added joy and oh man does he LOVE to take walks!
So, may I present to you, our Potter (before being pampered & groomed):

He reminded us of a little lion...he even roars like one, tee hee!! (he has a trick where he can SO sound like Chewbaca...HA!)

He REALLY lays like this. Sometimes his back feet are like this too, it's hilarious!

Isn't his "faux"-hawk so FUNNY??

The brothers meeting Potter....

(that's Potter, Duster & Cajun)

Duster's explaining the "rules" of the house....

Bandit's saying...."Sure buddy...just stay by me, I've got your back, oh wait, Duster does..."

Potter....after being pampered and groomed:

Is he NOT the cutest thing??

He's SO proud of his tags...I kid you not.

This is just a few minutes ago...He was telling me he wanted to go for a walk.

Think he's her buddy?

I'd say so....
